Our favourite sports shouldn't be locked behind a paywall. It’s just un-Australian.

Yet the Albanese Government is planning to stop millions of Australians viewing the sports they love for free, locking them behind a paywall.

Labor’s new laws will mean only those with an old-school aerial will have guaranteed access to some sporting events for free, excluding almost half of all households from free sport - a number that will only continue to grow.

Whether you watch TV on your phone, tablet or television, you should be able to watch your favourite sporting events free of charge.

New reports from the US show that Americans are being slugged more than $2,000 AUD a year to watch a full season of the NFL. It’s a warning of what could happen here in Australia if Labor’s laws go ahead unchanged.

In a cost of living crisis, Australians shouldn’t have to be forking out their hard-earned cash to watch their favourite sports.

Labor needs to get with the times and ensure our laws are fit for purpose in the digital age.

It’s clear the Government is too busy helping to line the pockets of their Murdoch media mates at Foxtel and Kayo rather than looking out for everyday Australians.

The Greens want these iconic sporting moments to be free and accessible for all, whether they have an aerial on their roof or not.
