The Albanese Government teamed up with Dutton to rush through three of the most extreme anti-refugee and anti-migrant bills in a generation.

This was the Albanese Government running to the right of Peter Dutton, whipping up racism and fear for political gain.

We must push back against the fear and division.

The Government rushed legislation through Parliament that will:

  • Allow the Government to forcibly remove people in Australia to third countries with no regard for their human rights
  • Create a travel ban on certain countries (Labor refuses to say which ones), separating families and loved ones.

These will mean a mother and her children who fled a country like Iran – and went through an unfair refugee system in Australia – could be ordered to seek a passport from the country they fled or face years in jail.

It will mean someone who has lived in Australia for decades can be forcibly removed from a country like Nauru and separated from their family because of a visa issue.

This move by Labor and the Coalition is a betrayal of the multicultural values that Australians are so proud of.

Join the Greens by calling on the Labor Government to:

  • Repeal its anti-refugee and anti-migrant bills
  • End the race to the bottom on immigration and refugee rights
