Greens reject reported racing industry offer

2018-10-05

Amy MacMahon, spokesperson for the Queensland Greens and former candidate for South Brisbane has confirmed the Greens would reject any offer of a donation from the racing industry lobby as reported today

No offer of any donation has been received.

Ms MacMahon said:

“The Greens are aiming to win South Brisbane, but unlike Labor and the LNP we won’t be taking corporate and for-profit lobby group donations, and we would never accept money from the racing lobby.

“The Greens supported the betting tax in State Parliament, and have campaigned consistently on banning greyhound racing and protecting animal welfare in horse racing.

“With Labor and LNP continuing to take thousands of dollars in corporate donations we expect the next state election to be tough. But we look forward to running a people-powered grassroots campaign to win South Brisbane."
