The formal declaration of results today by the Electoral Commission's for the final Brisbane based seats confirms strong swings to the Queensland Greens.
Greens spokesperson Andrew Bartlett said the finalisation of results in Ryan and Lilley confirmed that the Greens had gained greater swings than Labor and the Liberals across every part of the area covered by the City of Brisbane.
"The results confirm continuing strong growth in the Greens primary vote, including a 4.3% swing in Ryan, a 5.06% swing in Brisbane and a 6.8% swing in Griffith. Labor's primary vote declined in all of these seats.
"The Greens also had gains of nearly 4% in Lilley, 3.4% in Oxley, 2.7% in Moreton and 2.6% in Bonner - all swings greater than that achieved by Liberal or Labor.
"These results are consistent with the trend shown in the Greens strong results in the Brisbane City Council election in March, which gives the party good reason to be confident of a strong showing in a number of Liberal and Labor held seats in the upcoming state election.
"The Queensland Greens State Council met on the weekend and has opened pre-selections for all seats for the state election."
