Qld Labor must release reported bid for federal funding of Adani coal railway to devastate the Reef

The Greens are calling on the Palaszczuk Government to release its reported funding application to the federal Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility to pay for Adani's railway line.
"Instead of being miles better for the Reef as promised, Labor appears to be seeking taxpayer funding for miles of railway line to export coal through the Reef," Senator Larissa Waters, Australian Greens climate change spokesperson, said.
"The Labor state Government looks set to buddy up with the Liberal federal Government to waste taxpayer money on a railway line for Adani to send millions of tonnes of coal through the Reef to further cook its coral.
"Without taxpayer-funding, this mega coal mine does not stack up financially and more than a dozen banks have ruled out providing finance.
"Kicking in taxpayer money to get this white elephant over the line makes no sense economically or environmentally.
"Instead of wasting taxpayer money in the dying coal industry, where workers are already losing their jobs, we should be investing in clean energy where jobs will last long-term, with training and a transition plan for workers," Senator Waters said.
