The Greens are calling on the Victorian Government to release key documents that will expose the real extent of neglect and abuse in Victoria's early childhood education sector.
In light of recent allegations involving a childcare worker charged with 70 offences against children in their care, we know that the early childhood education system is in crisis. The government needs to be transparent and urgently release the documents that will reveal the true scale of this broken system.
The deadline is approaching fast. The Government has until 18 July 2025 to release the documents. That’s just days away.
If you believe that the public has a right to know what’s happening at our early childcare centres, add your name to our petition today.
We’ve also written to the Government calling for the establishment of a Victorian Independent Early Childhood Watchdog.
We want a truly independent body that can:
- Monitor, audit and investigate how the Department of Education regulates safety standards.
- Hold the department responsible when it fails.
- Expose systemic risks.
- Ensure children’s safety can never be compromised by profit or bureaucracy.
Every child deserves to be safe, and parents deserve childcare they can trust. We are ready to work with the government to fix this crisis.
Add your name to the petition to the Victorian Premier, demand transparency and join our call for a fully independent watchdog to keep children safe.

PETITION to the Premier of Victoria
CC: Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn
CC: Minister for Education Ben Carroll
I am deeply concerned, like many Victorians, about recent reports that a childcare worker has been charged with 70 offences against children across multiple Melbourne centres. This is a clear failure of our early childhood education system.
For too long, the Government has downplayed the scale of the problem. We are seeing a growing pattern of abuse and neglect being uncovered across the sector. For-profit providers now dominate early education, cutting costs and understaffing centres, which puts children and educators at risk.
The public deserves full transparency and we're calling on the Government to come clean and release key documents that will reveal the true extent of harm and neglect in Victoria's childcare centres.
We are also calling on the Government to establish a fully independent Early Childhood Safety Watchdog. This watchdog must have the power to monitor, audit and investigate safety standards and hold the Department of Education accountable when it fails.
We demand the Labor Government takes urgent and immediate action to protect our children, support our educators and rebuild parents' trust.
