For months, a toxic algal bloom has been wreaking havoc on South Australia’s coast.
The Greens have set up a parliamentary inquiry into the algal bloom and we want to make sure your voice can be heard in Canberra.
HOW TO MAKE A SUBMISSION
Submissions are to be uploaded on the parliamentary website by Friday, August 22nd. Please note all submissions will be made public.
THE BEST SUBMISSIONS:
- begin with a short introduction about yourself or the organisation you represent
- are relevant and highlight your own perspective or experience
- are concise, generally no longer than 2-4 pages
- provide relevant images that you have taken
the committee wants to know:
- How has the algal bloom impacted your business or livelihood? Your health and wellbeing? Your mental and social state?
- If you could tell a parliamentarian in Canberra anything about your experience since the bloom first began, what would it be?
- Do you have any ideas or suggestions for how this can be handled by governments at all levels?
ABOUT THE INQUIRY
This inquiry is an important opportunity for the community and affected industry to have their voices heard.
It will inquire into the causes, frequency, scale and duration of recent algal blooms in South Australian marine and coastal environments. The purpose of the inquiry is to hear from you and have your voice heard loud and clear in Canberra.
The inquiry will be accepting submissions from the public to inform its recommendations. You don’t have to be an expert to make a submission: the more community voices, the better.
