The Australian Greens
The government has handed down its mid-year budget outlook, but forgot the practical revenue measures that would make our economy fairer and provide the money we need for essential services! Whoops!
Luckily, we've found $81 billion:
Removing tax-free fuel and other perks for miners? That brings in $24 billion.
Cancel the $17 billion Joint Strike Fighter acquisition.
Removing the capital gains tax discount and negative gearing would raise $14 billion and remove inequities from the housing market (especially for puppers).
Putting a price on carbon pollution? $16 billion... and meaningful action on global warming.
Limiting debt loading by companies would raise $2 billion...
...and stopping the concealment and splitting of income by trusts would raise another $4 billion.
And reversing the tax cuts for the highest income earners (passed by the Liberals and Labor) adds another $4 billion.
That's $81 billion that we could spend on schools... hospitals and public transport.

This figure of $81 billion is calculated over the forward estimates, with the exception of the Joint Strike Fighters, which is over the life of the acquisition project.
