The Banner

The Banner first appeared at the last Breakfast @ Barnetts. Even though many were hopeful, no one dared at that stage to say with certainty that it would be THE LAST breakfast! The Banner brought smiles and many toots of support from commuters on Stirling Highway with its inaugural appearance.

Next, The Banner went to Cottesloe Civic Centre polling booth on Election Day (as shown in the header photo) and was strategically placed in the heart of Barnett 'country. It served well in Greg Bolands bid to be the Greens member for Cottesloe. It even featured on the ABC news on that evening and was rumoured to have been behind Colin Barnett when he gave a less than optimistic interview.

The concept of the banner came from Bilbo Taylor who had little trouble convincing Judy Blyth the merits of the project. She simply leapt on the idea and with great skill and enthusiasm set about painting it, while in the back of her mind thinking it would be fabulous if its message came true.

The unreliable nature of the recent polls on Brexit and Trump left everyone cautious to believe that there was to be a change in WA government. Only after the landslide Labor win did the banner, on a new high, go to its next rendezvous. With five possible Greens seats in the balance and after a big day at the polling booth, The Banner went partying with the face-painted candidate for Cottesloe and his partner Rochelle at the Oxford Hotel.  Its unclear where The Banner went after that, but it appears to have absconded or perhaps it will be recreated for another campaign.
