who powers our movements? You do.

By Your Greens Team

Like so many organisations, we’re in the final days of our End of Financial Year appeal.

Your inbox (or mailbox) has probably received a wave of emails asking for support in recent weeks.

So, today, we wanted to talk about just how important individual donors are.

Because, when people ask how the Greens have grown into the third largest party in Australian politics, the answer is simple.

You did it.

The Greens have elected MPs at every level of government, pushed climate onto the national agenda, and built a movement calling for housing justice, free education and healthcare, and lasting peace.

None of this happened by luck. We got here because thousands of people chose to support a party that puts people and the planet first.
In the last federal election cycle, more than 28,000 individual donors powered our work.

No big corporate donations. No coal or gas money. Everyday people chipping in to support our volunteers, our teams across the country and our campaigns on the issues that matter so much to our future.

During the recent federal election, we ran candidates in every seat across the country, booked thousands of ads, turned out tens of thousands of volunteers, and had some of the most effective digital campaigns in the country.

As a result, we’re heading back to parliament with sole balance of power in the Senate and the opportunity to deliver meaningful outcomes.

Your contributions don’t just fund elections. They fund momentum.

They let us plan long-term, run year-round campaigns, and be ready for the moments that matter. Whether it's pushing Labor to stop a new gas project, supporting renters in a housing crisis, or fighting to scrap AUKUS and stand for peace — your support means we can respond with strength and clarity.

What does this actually look like in offices and Greens meetings across the country?

Well, your donations cover the real, on-the-ground costs of campaigning. They pay for printing corflutes and flyers, running training sessions with volunteers. Keeping our offices open. Working quickly to produce ads for social media when new issues arise.

They allow us to hire organisers, produce materials in multiple languages, and support local teams with the tools they need to build relationships with voters.

Your support also funds year-round policy research, strategic communications, digital tools, and issue-based campaigning at the local level.

It also helps us invest in long-term organising across the country, grow our volunteer networks, and prepare early for state and local elections.

It really is true to say that together, we’re more than a political party, we’re a movement. A movement that refuses to give up on what matters.

We’re a movement of people giving what they can, when they can. Some chip in every month. Others give during an election. Some leave bequests in their will to secure the future of the Greens for generations to come.

Every single one of those donations matters, and every one helps build something bigger than any single one of us.

So, thank you.

Thank you for backing this work, for trusting us to use your contributions with care, and for helping grow a movement with the courage to say: we can do better.

We don’t accept big corporate donations — and we never will.

That’s part of our DNA, and it’s also our point of difference. While the major parties rely on the support of coal and gas corporations, banks, and wealthy property developers, we rely on you.

And in doing so, we’ve shown that politics can be people-powered. That we don’t have to compromise on our values. That we can be bold — and win.

So if you’ve ever chipped in — thank you. You’ve helped elect Greens MPs who are fighting for renters, challenging corporate power, and calling out war and climate delay.

And if you’re a regular giver — thank you for being the steady heartbeat of our movement.

We’re so proud and appreciative to have you with us.
