Since April, disabled people, our families, supporters and advocates across the country have worked tirelessly to stop the Government’s harmful NDIS Bill.
Together, we’ve organised rallies, made thousands of submissions, given evidence at Senate hearings and spoken out to hold this Government to account. Because of that collective pressure, we’ve already forced them to delay the Bill.
But the fight isn’t over. The Bill is due to return to Parliament soon, and key political leaders will decide what happens next.
By taking just a few minutes to call their offices, you can help remind them that disabled people are paying attention, our community expects to be heard, and we won’t accept changes that undermine the NDIS.
This guide will help you share your perspective with the people who need to hear it most.
Why We’re Calling ✊
The Government is continuing to push a Bill that would hand unprecedented powers to the NDIS Minister and make sweeping changes to how people access the Scheme and the supports they rely on. These changes have been developed without genuine co-design with disabled people.
We’re calling key members of the Liberal Party to urge them to listen to the disability community, because if they vote no against the bill in Parliament, it will not pass.
If you only have time to make one call - please call Angus Taylor! As the Leader of the Opposition, it’s most important that he hears our perspective.
A respectful phone call can make a real difference—especially when hundreds of people across Australia are making that same call. Your voice matters.

Let’s Get Calling! ☎️
You don’t need to read from a script! It’s completely OK if the conversation doesn’t go exactly like this.
The most powerful thing you can do is speak from your own experience and explain why protecting the NDIS matters to you.
Here are a few ideas to help get you started.
- 1. Introduce yourself
-
Hi, my name is [ ___________ ] and I am [ an NDIS participant / a disabled person / a carer of someone with a disability / a concerned community member].
I’m calling because I’m deeply concerned about the Government’s proposed changes to the NDIS and the NDIS Bill currently before Parliament.
- 2. Confirm position
-
I understand that [ MP/Senator ] has an opportunity to influence what happens next.
Can you tell me what [MP/Senator]’s position is on the NDIS Bill?
✔️ They oppose the Bill- That’s really encouraging to hear.
- Will [MP/Senator] continue to publicly oppose the Bill and advocate for genuine co-design with disabled people?
- I’d also love to share why that’s so important to me…
❓ They are unsure or don’t know
- That’s OK.
- I’d really appreciate it if you could pass on my concerns to [MP/Senator]. I’d also like to briefly explain why this issue matters so much to me…
✖️ They support the Bill
- I’m really disappointed to hear that.
- I’d like [MP/Senator] to reconsider their position and listen to the disability community before supporting legislation that could have such significant impacts.
- I’d really appreciate it if you could pass on my concerns.
- 3. Share your story
-
The most important part of the call is telling them why this matters to you. You could say things like:
- “If this Bill passes, I’m worried it will mean…”
- “The NDIS has made it possible for me to…”
- “From my perspective, these changes will harm disabled people because…”
- “I’m concerned that these changes have been developed without genuine co-design with the disability community.”
- “Disabled people deserve to be listened to before changes this significant are made.”
- 4. Before you finish!
-
Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today.
Would you please pass my concerns on to [MP/Senator]? I hope they’ll listen to the disability community and work to stop these harmful changes to the NDIS.
Thanks again. Goodbye.
