Annual Report 2025

2025-10-21

By Jason Kennedy
Australian Greens Policy Coordinator

AGPCC was pleased to report the completion of the national policy review for the 2022-2025 election cycle. The committee would like to thank everyone who tirelessly committed to the consensus process.  Grass roots, member driven, participatory democracy, mean a significant amount of work to ensure every member is heard through the consensus process leading to a policy platform that is robust and resilient.

  • AGPCC have completed full reviews of our 50 policies
  • There were 6 policy areas with no amendment being progressed this cycle.
  • 2 new policy areas have been created with two consolidations
  • AGPCC welcome the member recommendations for Space, Climate adaption, and Artificial Intelligence and Innovation.
  • The committee through the election review process has identified Superannuation, banking and finance and retirement incomes as other broad areas for policy work to be undertaken,
  • Genetically Modified Organisms remains a rapidly changing field that requires ongoing work to maintain relevance as the science changes.

Members of the AGPCC commit a very large amount of time to delivering policy to the party, we have a very tight window in which to seek feedback from member bodies and process these suggestions reaching a consensus position that honours our grassroots ideology and consensus decision making processes.

Those member bodies who are always present and undertake the consultations with their member bodies are the true heroes of the policy process. I struggle to express my admiration for their hard work and completing the full policy review in the 2 year window. I would ask that delegates to conference make a commitment to acknowledge your policy delegates within your member bodies and publicly acknowledge the incredible time commitment they make year on year..

The AGPCC works collaboratively to achieve consensus wording, the group is incredibly high functioning and deserves as many accolades as can be levelled at them. The way the team goes about reaching consensus on technically difficult outcomes is the epitome of our pillar.

We had a slow start to the year with meetings not reaching quorum - our committee, rightfully, has a high quorum expectation requiring 5 member bodies and two party room delegates. So while it is important to acknowledge the work of your delegates who are here week in week out, it is also beholden on us to identify member bodies who are not being represented and make sure we select delegates who have the capacity to participate and honour our pillar of grassroots democracy.

The 2025-2027 policy work has commenced with our first tranche of submissions due December.
