Greens NSW Welcomes National Council Input

2018-12-19

To be attributed to Greens NSW Co-Convenor Sylvia Hale:

"Greens NSW welcomes the consensus resolution passed by the Australian Greens National Council last night.

The resolution supports a decision made by the NSW State Delegates Council earlier this month calling for a review of Greens NSW processes, and requesting that Jeremy Buckingham stand aside from the Upper House ticket for the 2019 state election.

Greens NSW is committed to bringing all Greens together and we believe the Australian Greens has a valuable role to play. Its involvement in the review is at the request of Greens NSW and accords entirely with the decisions of the State Delegates Council.

We are pleased that all our MPs including Cate Faehrmann and Justin Field have acknowledged the SDC decision, and committed to participate cooperatively in the review and campaign together for a better NSW."

The Australian Greens National Council has resolved to:

  • Support The Greens NSW with its plan to undertake a formal and independent review of Greens NSW structures and processes
  • Establish a panel - comprising the National Co-Convenors, a Federal Party Room nominee, and a Greens NSW nominee - to assist the GNSW State Manager with the review
  • Ensure that Greens NSW members are engaged throughout the review, with a clear process for involving members in the implementation of recommendations
  • Ensure the review hands down recommendations by 1 August 2019, and makes all decisions via consensus
