“I welcome this morning’s progress towards the Voice, and in particular, the recognition in the Bill of First Peoples as the Traditional Owners, and the inclusion in the bill materials the Statement from the Heart with its multiple references to First Nations sovereignty. It is a significant outcome to have a Government explicitly recognise this.

“For the Greens Party Room, a successful Yes Vote is the pathway to implementing all aspects of the Statement from the Heart, Truth, Treaty and Voice."

“Like any other bill, we’ll ensure the Voice to Parliament enabling legislation is appropriately and transparently scrutinised through the committee process.

“The Greens are committed to this process, and committed to a positive outcome at the referendum, we see this as the pathway to progressing truth-telling and treaty-making.

“Alongside Adam Bandt as Greens Leader, I’ll continue to work with the Government to push for progress on all elements of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, while elevating First Nations community voices.”
