Adani puts ex LNP and Qld Labor figures on the payroll

"The record Queensland Greens vote and the possibility of Greens Candidate Michael Berkman winning the seat of Maiwar has spooked Adani into hiring a lobby firm stacked with senior figures from the Liberal National Party and Queensland Labor," says Queensland Greens Senator Andrew Bartlett.

“The result at this weekend’s election, a record vote for the Queensland Greens with massive swings in several seats, and the possibility of a Green MP, was not just a rejection Adani’s deadly mega coal mine but of the corporate stranglehold on politics."

“Here we have an multi-national mining corporation paying ex-senior figures from both major parties to lobby their mates in Parliament."

“If that wasn’t enough the firm they have hired, Govstrat, has given over $40,000 in payments to Queensland Labor."

“The political system is rigged when senior figures from both sides of politics employed as well-paid lobbyists can exert influence over decision making that impacts all of us."

“But Queenslanders reject the kind of politics that works for mining corporations, ex-politicians and lobbying firms."

“That is why they voted in record numbers for a kind of politics that works for a future for all of us”
