Australian Greens Leader, Dr Richard Di Natale has welcomed the announcement of Dr Samantha Ratnam as the new leader of the Victorian Greens. Samantha was announced as leader in Melbourne today, with Nina Springle selected as her deputy.
“Samantha is an outstanding community leader and has committed so much of her time to helping make our nation better,” Senator Di Natale said.
“As a councillor, mayor, social worker and project manager at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Sam has shown the kind of courage, strength and compassion that is woefully lacking in today’s politics.
“I have known Sam for many years. She is extremely talented and well respected, as a Victorian Greens member, I’m incredibly proud to have her leading our party.
“Alongside Sam, Nina Springle as deputy leader and their parliamentary team will continue to provide dynamic and progressive alternatives to the old parties as we look forward to the upcoming state election”.
