The Greens will pursue a Private Senators Bill when Parliament returns next month to ensure that any access to my health record data by law enforcement would require a warrant, Leader of the Australian Greens Dr Richard Di Natale said.
“If you want to access someone’s medical records, you should have to have a warrant, simple as that," Di Natale said.
"There is no justification for the lesser standard, and Minister Hunt has been all over the place on what data can be released, and to whom.
"The fact that as many as 10% of Australians may opt out of the MyHealth system is a reflection of people’s lack of confidence in this Government’s ability to protect their data. And they have every reason to be suspicious based on their track record.
"This rollout has highlighted the multitude of other issues with this system that need to be addressed before we can be comfortable that it's going to operate successfully and safely.
“We support the principle of using digital health to improve patient outcomes, but this will succeed or fail based on implementation. And that’s why it’s doubly important to get it right.
