Morrison’s Cabinet is an attack on the environment and climate action

The Prime Minister’s new Cabinet line-up is a direct attack on the environment and the health of the planet, Greens Environment spokesperson Senator Sarah Hanson-Young says.

“Putting a climate sceptic, pro-mining advocate in charge of the Environment portfolio and an anti-renewables warrior in charge on energy policy is declaration of war on the environment and our climate,” Senator Hanson-Young said.

“After giving the top job of PM to the bloke who brought a lump of coal into the Parliament, the Morrison Government is set to destroy the environment and our renewable energy industry.

“Melissa Price will be a terrible Environment Minister; at a time when we need a strong advocate for the health of our planet, the arrest climate change and stop species extinction, this Minister will be doing the bidding for the mining and coal industry.

“Coming from WA, Minister Price will doing nothing to help save the Murray Darling from environmental vandalism of the big corporate irrigators.

“The Prime Minister’s anti-science, anti-climate line-up will not be welcome in South Australia. We love our precious Murray, renewable energy, and want a clean, green future.

“With Melissa Price as Environment Minister and Angus Taylor as Energy Minister, Scott Morrison has put the duo in charge of environment vandalism.

“It’s clearer than ever that the only way Australia can save the environment now is to kick this mob out. The Coalition Government cannot be trusted to protect the environment.”
