Statement on behalf of the Australian Greens Victoria

On April 11, Councillor Anab Mohamud was violently assaulted in South Yarra. She sustained serious facial injuries, including eye damage and significant blood loss, that left her hospitalised for some time. Her recovery from this assault is still ongoing.
Cr Mohamud is glad that charges have been laid against the person who assaulted her, and is working to clear her name against allegations that she instigated her own assault. The Victorian Greens welcome that a court case will give Cr Mohamud an opportunity to make clear what occurred in the lead-up to her assault.
As is appropriate, Councillor Mohamud is keeping Yarra Council updated as this process continues.
As the matter is before the courts, the Victorian Greens will be making no further statement.
