This October, vote for a Greens Councillor who will work for our local community, put people ahead of profits, and take real action to tackle climate change.
Our achievements
In the last four years, Simon Crawford, our Greens Councillor in Yarraville Ward has achieved some incredible things. Here’s just some of the changes he led the way on achieving:
- Ensured Council acknowledged the climate emergency and approved the Climate Emergency Strategy
- Introduced the Stony Creek Future Directions Plan to better protect Stony Creek
- Established a new customer response management system that allows residents to track their enquiries
- Introduced the Developer Contribution Plan, ensuring developers contribute more funding to local infrastructure
- Developed the Maribyrnong Bike Strategy to support more people to ride safely.
Your vote can help make sure Greens can continue to deliver the change you want to see in your community.
Our vision
We have a broad policy platform focused on working with the community to bring about positive social and environmental change. We will:
- Make community engagement and participation in Council decision-making their highest priority - improving transparency; consulting in a meaningful way with residents before decisions are made; building trust, and residents and the organisation working together.
- Act on the climate emergency - local government is well-placed to lead communities in responding to the climate emergency in ways that reduce emissions, improve lives, and make our economy strong and sustainable.
- Allocate resources to prevent pollution from toxic waste incinerators, from vehicles and industry, and litter and waste. These all impact on the health of the local environment and community.
- Ensure ethical investment and procurement – we will make sure Council's money is used as ethically and sustainably as possible.
- Focus on a caring and fair post-COVID recovery, which supports the vulnerable and builds a strong local economy.
