Evan Davies (International Development Officer)
In early 2016 the Australian Greens International Development Committee (AG-IDC) will bring members of different Asian and Pacific Greens parties to Australia to conduct a Study Tour of our 2016 election campaign. The tour will provide opportunities for visiting Greens Party members to observe and participate in a range of different campaigns across the country from densely populated inner-city seats to the wide open spaces of our rural and regional electorates. And in doing so it is hoped that our Greens colleagues will be able to take new campaign strategies and approaches back to their countries and help inspire new ideas and discussions to the benefit of Greens Parties in Asia and the Pacific not to mention within our own party.
In addition to providing mutual learning opportunities the Study Tour also aims to strengthen the links and relationships that we have with our Regional Colleagues while building stronger linkages between other Greens Parties in the Asia Pacific. The Study Tour comes after the very successful Asia Pacific Greens Congress where 130 representatives from 17 Greens Parties from countries as diverse as Iraq, Solomon Islands, Taiwan and Mongolia came together in Wellington in June 2015 to discuss common issues and strengthen the foundations of the Asia Pacific Greens Federation as a strong coordinating body across the region.
The Study Tour is being funded as key program activity through the Australian Political Parties for Democracy Program (APPDP), which aims to strengthen representative, transparent and effective democracy in the region and encourage international cooperation between democratic political parties.
For more information on the study tour or if your state or branch would be interested in participating as a host in the Study Tour please contact Evan Davies, evan.davies@greens.org.au or on 0429 147 821.
