In October, National Council discussed sexual harassment within the party and agreed to a clear statement on the issue.

At the October meeting of National Council there were a number of important issues discussed over the course of the weekend, including balance of power and preparations for the federal election.
Another one of those issues was responding to sexual harassment and assault complaints arising within various member bodies, with Council agreeing by consensus to the following statement:
“The Australian Greens affirms our strong commitment to ensure all complaints and allegations regarding sexual harassment, assault and bullying are taken seriously and addressed appropriately.
“The Australian Greens affirm that the victimisation or retaliation against any person who complains of conduct which falls within the Australian Greens Anti-Sexual Harassment Policy is prohibited (whether or not that complaint resulted in a finding that the offending behaviour had occurred).
“All members, office bearers and MPs and their offices are strongly encouraged to review the Australian Greens Anti-Sexual Harassment Policy and that of the relevant member body."
(The member bodies of the Australian Greens are the individual state and territory parties.)
