Ms TRUONG (Western Metropolitan) (14:39) — My question is for the minister representing the Minister for Health.
Given the urgent and growing needs of our communities in Melbourne’s west have not been adequately met for at least a decade, will the minister reveal the criteria used by the Department of Health and Human Services to choose a site for the planned Footscray Hospital rebuild, and did it factor in the community-strengthening opportunities beyond budget considerations? \
We Greens are concerned that this once-in-a-generation opportunity to have the Footscray Hospital co-locate with another institution of the west — Victoria University — and decent public transport, along with the huge potential for this rebuild to raise the prospects for jobs and training as a true university precinct for the west, is too good an opportunity to miss.
