Hi, I’m Ansary and I’m honoured to be your Greens Candidate for Woodridge.
As the founder of a local charity, I’ve spent the last 14 years on the streets helping over 200,000 people across Logan and Brisbane, providing them with meals and supporting those sleeping rough. In all my years, I’ve never seen our community struggle as much as they do today.
We are in a cost of living emergency and a severe housing crisis. This Government isn’t doing anywhere near enough to address the challenges our community face. These are not just issues on paper; they are lived realities for so many of us here in Woodridge. For too long, our community has been overlooked and left behind. We deserve better.
It’s time we mobilise - together we can. We can advocate for peace and non-violence, we can tackle the rental crisis by capping rental increases, we can drastically improve healthcare access by establishing 200 free GP clinics, and we can ease the cost of living by capping the price of 30 basic essentials at Coles and Woolies. We need to all work together to make change. This upcoming State Election is our opportunity.
I never planned to be a politician, and I never thought I would be standing up one day to be your candidate for State Parliament. But our community is hurting. We need leadership that represents us, leadership that listens, leadership that acts. Most of all, we need leadership that puts people over profits.
Despite all these challenges, I’m profoundly hopeful for a brighter future. As an AFL ambassador and youth coach, I’ve had the privilege of working with the next generation. Their endless positivity, their joy and their dreams inspire me everyday. It’s our duty and responsibility to ensure they inherit a world where they have access to affordable housing, quality education, safe streets, a healthy environment and opportunities that inspire hope, not despair.
Change doesn’t happen overnight but we need to start somewhere. Real change starts with electing someone who’ll fight for you. Together we can. This State Election, vote 1 Greens and let’s make Woodridge better together.
