Hi, I’m Braden and I’m your Greens candidate for Currumbin in the upcoming 2024 Queensland state election. 

I’m a lifelong Currumbin local and journalism student. I’m deeply familiar with all the wonderful things that make our area so special, including our natural environment, which needs to be protected from threats like land clearing and poor development, as well as the climate crisis that threatens to upend our ecosystem.

We desperately need action on the cost of living crisis. From housing to energy prices to groceries, prices keep skyrocketing, along with corporate profits!

As a young person, I know it is increasingly difficult for people to move out of home, and many people are being forced out of the Gold Coast due to sky high rents that are some of the most expensive in the country.

When big corporations and rich developers are making massive profits off a cost of living crisis, the government should stand up to them. But instead, Labor and the LNP continue to take corporate donations, and act in the interests of profit over everyday Queenslanders. 

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

The Greens will freeze rents and cap increases. Take energy back into public ownership and crack down on supermarket price gouging. 

We will reinvigorate public ownership in Queensland and start getting our essential services working for people - not profit. We will tax big corporations fairly and raise money to build 100,000 homes, fully fund our public schools, ensure healthcare is truly free, universal and high quality and secure permanently free, frequent and accessible public transport. 

We could create a future with 100% publicly owned renewable energy, manufactured here in Queensland to tackle the escalating climate crisis and make our energy bills cheaper. 

All of this is possible, and it can be accomplished with more Greens in Parliament - people who will fight for you instead of big corporations, rich developers and the fossil fuel industry.

The Greens don’t accept corporate donations. As your representative, I will listen to  and work for you, so we can truly build a future for all of us.
