In 2011, the Greens fought to establish the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), or the green energy bank, securing $10 billion for clean energy. Since then it has backed renewable energy projects across the country like $20 million for a solar farm in Ross River and $67 million for the Ararat wind farm.
Now, the Coalition government wants to channel billions of dollars in clean energy funding into building new coal-fired power stations. Clean coal is a lie and Malcolm Turnbull knows it.
Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg can rewrite the rules and effectively kill off the CEFC without any Parliamentary approval. To block this devastating move, we must show the government that Australians will not stand for this attack on clean energy.
