For the first time ever, the United Nations has negotiated a treaty to ban all nuclear weapons.
More than 130 countries have committed to a global nuclear weapons ban. This is the best chance the world has to finally end the proliferation of nuclear weapons and ban the bomb.
Australia played a constructive role in the chemical weapons ban, the cluster munitions ban, and numerous others. Why then, has the Australian government not merely remained silent on banning the bomb, but at times actually stood in the way? Our government prefers to side with Donald Trump and the United States who continue to amass nuclear weapons.
It's not good enough. Add your voice to the thousands of Australians who are calling on Malcolm Turnbull and Julie Bishop to get behind the nuclear ban treaty.
